Thanks so much for visiting me here at Happymaking; I hope you enjoy your stay. Please allow me to tell you a bit about myself.

As one who is passionate about the arrangement of words and harbors a goal of becoming a writer, I’m doing what it takes to educate myself about the craft and polish my skills. I am interested in creative nonfiction, fiction, poetry, and tasty examples of wordsmithery. It is my belief that reading good writing begets good writing, and vice-versa, so keep the good stuff coming.

I’m a happily married wife to Dennis, mother of Joe and Lily, and stepmother to Brian and Dennie. As a lifelong Califorian recenty ripped from the arms of Mother West and transplanted to the Dallas, Texas area January of 2010, I’ve only recently begrudgingly boxed up my flip flops and hair straightening iron. As anyone will tell you, I have firm plans to fluff up my hair, blend in, and examine and appreciate the local culture through the eyes of a valley girl from the Sierra Nevada foothills.

Having worked in the Financial Services industry for 13 years, I retired unexpectedly when our son Joe was born the December of 2006, as I simply could not physically part with him. Our daughter Lily Rose was born into this world cranky, beautiful, and directing traffic, on the first day of Summer, 2008. It took me a while to locate the butt of the ropes of stay-at-home domesticity, but I’m slowly learning my way around a kitchen. I’m the luckiest woman in the world. That said, blogging and sharing my domestic and writing adventures with you helps to preserve my sanity.

When I’m not blogging, poking around Facebook and Twitter, or otherwise embarrassing my husband and children, you can usually find me reading, watching and soaking up all manner of films, or crocheting. I also thrift store shop like a demon and don’t care who knows it. Somewhere out there is obscenely under-priced original Fiestaware in red and light green, and I’ll be diggety-danged if I’m going to let anyone else get their hands on it.

Please contact me if you are interested in my style of writing, and would like to discuss a mutually-beneficial proposition. Take care.
