Joe got his first real haircut!

by Heather Kephart January 17, 2010 My Silly Kids

Supercuts + Lollipop = Fun!
A couple of days ago Dennis and I took Joe to SuperCuts for his first real haircut. His Grandma used to trim his hair, but a trim was way overdue and it was time for his first real cut. Joe did great! I was prepared for all manner of drama, but [...]

Healthy Eating for Toddlers

by Heather Kephart October 30, 2009 Domestic Goddessing
rice

Wednesday on Facebook, I admitted the following:
How do you get your toddlers to eat vegetables? I dropped the ball with Joe and got lazy, leading with a poor example, and now he refuses to eat almost everything good for him.
My wonderful friends were kind enough to chime in with some fabulous, creative suggestions. I am [...]

Joe the “Artist”

by Heather Kephart October 28, 2009 My Silly Kids
Joe on the prowl

Usually when our two year old son Joseph awakens before me he comes into our bedroom and gently rouses me in the subtle, patient manner of a two year old. But he doesn’t do this every time, apparently. I just uploaded a batch of photos to my computer and was treated to an unexpected grouping [...]

Creative inspiration takes flight at the Kephart compound

Backwards J

The other day the kids and I were playing with those funky little comb toys that stick together (I know, I know, my son will grow up thinking everything is called “that thing” “the stuff” or “that whatchamacallit over there by the deal”) and I thought, “Why not make this an educational moment?” Yes, Gina, [...]

Mud soup

Last week was surreal.
When I set up a Wordpress blog I enter a trance that numbs my brain. Since accidentally deleting my old Wordpress blog twice, I’ve developed a healthy respect for Wordpress and its potential for inflicting cruelties. Hence, when I am in a Wordpress trance the world and its inhabitants dance around me [...]

My Apology to Stay at Home Moms

by Heather Kephart August 11, 2009 Domestic Goddessing

Originally posted by me at my iVillage Expecting Club shortly after I gave birth to my son Joseph 12/06. I’m keeping it here so I never forget how very wrong I can be about something so very important.

OK I admit it now. Before I had Joseph I used to secretly bemoan all the “whining” [...]

Cover of New Moon (The Twilight Saga, Book 2)
Hi all! We’re back from the San Diego area where we spent the better part of the week happily sucking in Eucalyptus fumes and having our bodies caressed by warm air and cool breezes that leave me wondering why we ever hopped into the van and allowed [...]

Our Angel is Okay

by Heather Kephart June 2, 2009 Family

I don’t want to get into the details because this is too difficult to talk about right now, so please do not ask, but Dennis and I are so altered by the experience that we are quite literally different people now. As such, we feel we must address it publicly before we are able to [...]

Memorial Day Carnation Drop

by Heather Kephart May 28, 2009 My Silly Kids

On Memorial Day we went to the carnation drop at the Palm Springs Air Museum. It was a thrilling experience. Carnations were dropped from a B-25 Mitchell bomber that thundered by not far overhead to honor our war veterans. Next time I’ll bring a cooler. Ahh, hindsight is 20/20 where common sense fails to thrive.
Joe [...]
